Welcome July 2021

THE HEAT IS ON

This July has been a busy, hot and humid month!

My older brother and his family were here in Los Angeles, along with my parents as well. They were here just for a few days, so I decided to spend as much time with them as possible and really be grateful for having them here with us even for a little bit. We had a fantastic time together, leaving in the morning and coming back in the evening after a full day to car rides, delicious food and awesome conversation. No wonder I forgot to make this post 😊

I was inspired to re-create a photograph I saw online, after searching for images of “hot summer day.”

I used illustrator, which was nice because I really need to practice working with it, and had a bit of latency issues as the illustration became more detailed. But thankfully, I remembered that making a symbol out of an illustration (like the flowers here) helps the file stay small. This was helpful because I wanted the flowers far away to really look and feel very far away - no shortcuts, well almost.

I was also inspired - and grateful - by the fact that Los Angeles has great weather most of the year. For 9 months of the year, the weather in L.A. ranges between 60 and 75 ℉ which is absolutely lovely well, except between July and September when the heat of Summer hits Los Angeles right in the face, and with temperatures rising all the way to high 90’s ℉.

During this time the days are hot and dry, and the nights are hot and humid, which makes everything sticky and wet - oh… it reminds me of that time when I lived in South Florida.

But even though all of this, I must admit that my love for Los Angeles has only increased over the years.

These hot days and humid nights help me accept that nothing is perfect.
