Artist Statement
Abilene Harper (°1975, Sao Paulo, Brazil) is a self taught mixed media artist. Her artworks are grounded by a highly private set of values and the perfectly harmonious grace that arises when conflicting energies in nature and thought interplay.
Harper designs customized techniques and experiments with spontaneous processes to generate a diverse body of work that exhibits abstract designs, recognizable forms and detailed penmanship. Her multilayered arrangements oscillate harmony and chaos and lure the viewer to engage with her work more intimately.
Harper combines her personal principles with opposing elements to create charming compositions that reveal the unique beauty and paradoxical nature of our reality and experiences. Abilene Harper currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
